Generation UK-India Programme (12-August-2016)
A team of 42 members including 28 research scholars from different prestigious universities of UK and some scholars from Doon University headed by the Registrar of Doon University Mr. Harbola visited Eklavya Vidyalaya, Kalsi on 12th August. The popularity gained by Yoga worldwide made these scholars to visit India and know more about Yoga. They visited abode of Gods “Uttarakhand” which is a hub of Yoga and related activities. Their visit to Eklavya Vidyalaya was scheduled on 12th of August in collaboration with Doon University and British Council under the theme “HEALTH AND WELLBEING: THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF YOGA”. The Vidyalaya took great pride in welcoming them and to be their host for the day. Here they were introduced to the local culture of Uttarakhand. They visited the the vidyalaya campus and appreciated the aesthetic beauty of it. They also planted a Rudraksh Tree in the Vidyalaya’s birthday garden. They were shown glimpses of Yoga postures, Jaunsari folk dance, Kumaoni folk dance and the signature dance of the Vidyalaya The Ganga Dance. A musical group led by Mr. Nandlal Bharti one of the renowned folk artist of Uttarakhand was one of the attractions of the day. They praised all of it and were delighted. The programme was a great success.
